Google Search\'s Generative AI Now Generates Images with Text Prompts

Google's SGE Unleashes New AI-Powered Features: Image Generation and Writing Assistance

Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) just got even more powerful. SGE now offers image generation capabilities, allowing users to create drawings, photos, and paintings by entering prompts. The feature returns four image results that can be downloaded as .png files or further edited with different prompts. The technology behind this feature is Google's Imagen text-to-image model. The same feature is integrated into Google Image search, so if you can't find the right image, you can create one from within the search results.

However, to prevent misuse and inappropriate content, Google has limited this feature to users aged 18 and older. The company has also implemented strict filtering policies to prevent harmful or misleading content, explicit images, and the misuse of notable people's names.

The images generated will contain metadata and invisible watermarking, clearly indicating that they are AI-generated. These measures are in line with Google's commitment to the responsible use of AI technology.

SGE's writing assistance feature has also been enhanced, enabling users to generate drafts of different lengths and tones, from serious to casual. Users can export their writing to Google Workspace apps, such as Gmail and Google Docs.

Both new features are being rolled out gradually to SGE users who have opted in via Google Search Labs, initially available in English in the U.S., with plans to expand to a wider audience in the coming weeks.

Google continues to innovate in the AI space, offering enhanced tools for creativity and productivity while prioritizing responsible use and content filtering.

Note: Features are rolling out gradually; availability may vary depending on location.
